Art and technology meet in Possagno
Italian stainless steel sink manufacturer Fratelli TASCA, based in the homeland of master sculptor Antonio Canova, draws inspiration from the genius’s creative process and names its most popular kitchen sink collection after him.
Fratelli TASCA is a company with 50 years of tradition in stainless steel processing and specialized in the production of high-end stainless steel sinks for domestic kitchens. Fratelli TASCA produces up to 10,000 stainless steel sinks per month, thanks to a cutting-edge machine park and the mastery of its craftsmen.
Fratelli TASCA has chosen the village of Possagno (Treviso), birthplace of the neoclassical sculptor Antonio Canova, as the location of its factory. Known throughout the world, Canova's works are the result of a long preparatory process of models on paper, clay and plaster, then translated onto marble worked with a manual drill, chisel and special tools, created by the sculptor himself.
Soft bodies, light drapes and dynamic interweavings took shape from the cold block of marble, polished and smoothed by the master's hand.
Fratelli TASCA recalls the unsurpassed mastery of Antonio Canova and the tradition of local craftsmanship, naming its collection of stainless steel sinks with an internal radius of 12 mm after the illustrious sculptor born in Possagno. The Canova series is one of the symbols of the TASCA Made in Italy brand, thanks to the clean and harmonious lines that characterize it and the minimalist and elegant style, which echoes neoclassical works. The regular thickness of 1 mm and the homogeneous scotch brite finish on a matt base give these sinks a solid appearance, without undermining their elegance. No detail is left to chance: every dimension of the sink, from the width of the perimeter edges to the inclination of the bowl bottom, has been designed to create a balanced and efficient product.
The correspondences with the great artist are not limited to names, but run through the entire production process, from technical design to polishing, in the wake of Italian artisan tradition.
Each TASCA sink is produced in Possagno and is the result of a well-studied process involving more than twenty different operations, carried out by the most modern machinery and monitored by the eye of a specialized team. Cutting-edge machinery and robotic welding areas help reduce the duration of the production processes, leaving more time for the most important "engine" of the plant: the human hand.
Like Canova's marble block after the first roughing, the welded basin undergoes several finishing operations performed using tools made in the factory workshop; the welds are polished both manually and automatically and the edges are subjected to special smoothing.
It is said that Canova sometimes went to his studio at night to inspect his works with an oil lamp. The night, with its contrast of light and dark, was an unscrupulous judge of his statues, highlighting the smallest imperfection. Likewise, each TASCA sink is manually cleaned and inspected by lamplight to detect any visible defects before leaving the TASCA factory in Possagno and bringing the true Made in Italy to the world.
